Paul began his investigative career in 1988 as a supervisor with Pacific Security and Investigations. A short time later Paul became a sworn peace officer, working in the Parks Department for the city of Santa Cruz. In 1990 Paul began his career with NCC as a surveillance investigator.

Now the Chief Executive Officer, Paul has personally conducted and supervised thousands of surveillance cases. Paul believes that proper planning, client communication and always staying several steps ahead of your subject is the best way to conduct an effective investigation. It’s this mindset that sets Paul and NCC apart from other investigative firms.

Paul runs a team that specializes in video surveillance utilizing hi-tech digital equipment and hidden cameras. Paul is known for never blowing his cover and has an exceptionally high success rate for catching claimants unexpectedly. Paul and his team have provided hundreds of hours of expert testimony for clients in the courtroom.

Jim Soderman

Over 23 years of investigative experience.

Jim opened the doors of NCC in the fall of 1987. Completing four years in the USAF in 1960, he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) at Northeastern University in 1965. While pursuing a career in the Computer industry, he earned a Private Pilots license, and a Building Contractors License. Still looking for his niche in the business world, Jim fell in love with the world of private investigations in 1985 at the age of 47. From day one, Jim’s motto has been, “Nothing we do here is cast in stone. We do what we do, the way we do it, because it works best. The instant we discover, find or learn of a better way to do our job…we adopt it, improve it, and use it. We use every opportunity to maintain and improve our sterling reputation.”

Although Jim is now semi-retired he continues to consult and he builds much of the covert equipment we use in the field today.

Rebecca Vernon

Over 8 years of investigative experience.

Prior to becoming our AOE/COE Director, Rebecca conducted hundreds of AOE/COE, Subrogation, and Recorded Statement investigations for our firm.  Her extensive experience has given her the ability to discern the difference between a thorough investigation and a "checklist investigation" and keeps our standards high.  Her eye for details and facts ensures that investigative reports coming out of her department will be accurate and useful, and will help Examiners, Attorneys and Risk Management Professionals to make informed claims decisions.  Rebecca's extensive college education has given her outstanding skills in evaluating reports, ensuring that they are highly detailed and informative. Her academic experience has helped her develop a "continuing education" philosophy, and she extends this perspective to the field investigators with ongoing training regarding specific aspects of each investigation.

Michael LaPointe's career spans nearly two decades in the Security
and Investigations industry, including conducting hundreds of background
investigations over the course of the past four years. His involvement in
installing, monitoring and troubleshooting alarm systems, aiding in the
design and implementation of a high-tech, closed-circuit casino surveillance
system, and reviewing thousands of hours of surveillance footage have
helped Michael develop a sharp eye for detail and a passion for critical
thinking that carries into every case he works. Additionally, Michael has
worked directly with agents from the FBI, DEA, Interpol, Hong Kong Police
Department and local law enforcement on numerous high-profile cases.
